Kamas Valley is home to four elementary schools, two middle schools, two high schools, and an abundance of private and public preschools with a student-teacher ratio of 19-1. Most schools are part of the South Summit School District, ranked above average in Utah for education and among the top 10 school districts for sports. The schools in the area excel at providing students more opportunities than larger, urban districts.
The largest grocery store in the area is Kamas Foodtown, which is a local favorite as a small, well-stocked family-owned grocer in Kamas. The store is known for stocking special requests. Kamas is also home to the Samak Smoke House, a gourmet grocery store with smoked cheese and espresso. As an alternative, residents sometimes visit local convenience stores for snacks or occasionally take a short drive to Park City.
As part of Summit County, the summers are warm, dry, and mostly clear, making it ideal for recreational activity. The weather cools in November and begins to warm in April, with snowfall generally occurring between those months and making it ideal for winter activities. The area experiences all four seasons, with the most pleasant months in June, July, August, and September.
The number of options available depends largely on when a prospective owner initiated interest in one of the homes. Choosing a home and homesite as early in the process as possible affords the builder the opportunity to accommodate a variety of requests, including primary bedrooms on the first floor, additional dormers, or exterior facades that complement surrounding homes. Most options are part of several designer-selected packages based on design aesthetic, quality, and durability. Packages are subject to change based on supply.
It’s true. Much of Paramount Network’s TV drama Yellowstone, starring Kevin Costner, is filmed in Kamas Valley. The popular series is currently in its third season, and many of the extras you see in the show are residents of Kamas Valley. Entertainment isn’t the only industry taking note of Kamas Valley. The area is also becoming a tech-savvy region for remote workers who want a better quality of life.
